Michelle Gentle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working as the Clinical Supervisor for the Welcome Baby Program at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. In this position, Michelle is responsible for the clinical aspects of the Welcome Baby Program (including providing supervision, education and training, and staff development). She joined USC School of Social Work as an Adjunct Lecturer in 2013, teaching in the Human Behavior and the Social Environment sequence and the Grief, Loss, and Bereavement elective.
Anywhere from 40 to 80 percent of new mothers experience the “baby blues,” but the feelings often go away. About 15 percent of new mothers develop postpartum depression.
