tomI have worked in healthcare over fifty years, and I am now retired. The last fifteen years of my career were at MemorialCare.

The main reason that I volunteer with the Patient Family Advisory Council is that it was time to “give back” for all those years working in healthcare. I have significant knowledge on how healthcare works from the inside as both a MemorialCare employee and a user of their managed care services.

As a member of the PFAC for over a year, I have had the opportunity to participate in activities that I feel have improved the patient and family experience at our clinical offices. Some of them include; reviewing marketing materials and recommending changes before they are published on our website; reviewing patient communications before they are sent to patients; and participating in outpatient management meetings, where I gave feedback on how staff’s interaction with the patient can either improve or have a negative impact on the patient experience.
