Dalphin Day

For more than 15 years, the Aquarium of the Pacific and MemorialCare have been bringing smiles to our patients at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. Shortly after the Aquarium opened, its staff reached out to Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital to team up in support of our pediatric patients. We have been collaborating ever since. Most recently, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital sponsored the Aquarium’s Festival of Human Abilities and International Children’s Festival.

Since 2011, the Aquarium of the Pacific has been providing live educational programs for school-age children to teach them about the ocean and marine animals. The Aquarium has been bringing these educational programs to life for our pediatric patients by showing them the wonders of the ocean right at their bedside. Now, the Aquarium of the Pacific livestream’s educational programs directly to kids in our hospital every week. Our patients can enjoy a live look at some of their favorite marine animal exhibits and continue to learn while in the hospital. They can even call, text, or email the Aquarium during the show to ask questions and interact with their educators.

“Our partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific has been nothing short of amazing,” says Rita Goshert, director, Cherese Mari Laulhere Child Life Program, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital. “You can tell that they sincerely want to brighten our patients’ days and help them escape the hospital setting for a bit of time.”
