Chicago/Orange & Los Angeles Counties, CA—Becker’s Hospital Review announced its 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in the U.S. and MemorialCare Health System is the only healthcare organization located in both Los Angeles and Orange counties to achieve this honor.

The list features healthcare providers and other health-specific companies, such as medical societies, health IT companies and related organizations.

Winners featured on the list were selected by Becker's Hospital Review editorial team based on workforce-centric awards received, benefits offerings, wellness initiatives, and efforts to improve professional development, diversity and inclusion, work-life balance and a sense of community and unity among employees.

In honoring MemorialCare, Becker’s Hospital Review noted that “MemorialCare fosters a supportive work environment, where employees are encouraged and empowered to eat well, get more exercise and quit smoking through a robust wellness program. Each MemorialCare site also hosts wellness and social events like the scavenger hunts, weekend nature hikes, summer volleyball, Wii tournaments and more. Another program partners employees with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol, with a wellness coach and clinical team to help them make long-lasting lifestyle choices that will benefit them for years.”

Also noted was MemorialCare as a four-time consecutive winner of Gallup’s Great Workplace Award for creating an engaged workplace, along with other honors presented to its hospitals and medical groups.

“This is a great honor and a testimony to our exceptional 15,000 employees, affiliated physicians and volunteers who contributed to this enormous achievement,” says Barry Arbuckle, PhD, president & CEO of the nonprofit MemorialCare Health System, a pioneer and innovator in evidence based, best practice medicine. “Because of their commitment to continuous improvement and creating a great workplace, we’re able to offer our communities compassionate, high quality care.”
