Baby Alumni Club President's Message

As president of the Baby Alumni Club (“BAC”), I want to welcome you to the Baby Alumni Club website where you can find out about the latest and greatest events planned for the year! Our calendar of events includes our Annual Punkin’ Picnic & Tile-Painting Party on October 8th, Wine Tasting Event, Dizz’s As Is and more. To learn more about these events, go to Events.

BAC” is a Saddleback Memorial Foundation membership support group that has raised over $500,000 from annual dues and special events that support the Saddleback Women’s Hospital equipment needs. The most recent projects include:

  • Cardiac Monitors in the NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit that instantly tell the staff of any problems that the critically ill premature babies are experiencing and
  • Specialized Isolettes that help to eliminate some of the intrusiveness in the care and treatment of these tiny babies
  • Changing Tables in the men’s restrooms
  • and much more
On going programs sponsored by “BAC” include:
  • Childbirth and Parenting classes
  • Daddy Boot Camp
  • Infant CPR Classes for Parents, Grandparents and Nannies
  • Mom’s on Bed Rest
The Saddleback Women’s Hospital is part of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center which is a leading non-profit, community based healthcare facility is south Orange County. It’s because of contributions and the support of the community that has enabled “BAC” to provide necessary equipment and programs that help our tiniest patients, their parents and family.

Naci Masada-Okawa and familyWhile I was pregnant with our triplets, (Caitlin, Brad and Ryan born 12/12/01), my husband David and I, utilized the variety of classes and Mom’s on Bed Rest Program (a service supported by “BAC” to help expecting mom’s get through a very trying, and often difficult time.) My parents even took the Grandparent Infant CPR class while David often utilized the changing tables in all the men’s restrooms that “BAC” funded! David, my family and I were very grateful to “BAC” for all they provided. Each program, class we took, equipment we used helped us through the process of becoming new parents. For more information on these programs, contact Childbirth Education at (949) 452-3724.

Diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and pre-term labor, I was admitted into the hospital at 31 weeks where my “experience” was amazing! After my babies were born and at a time where it was comfortable for me, I wanted to give back to the hospital that gave me so much, so I started volunteering on the BAC Leadership Committee in April 2003 helping to raise funds for special projects in the Women’s Hospital. I can honestly say that aside from the birth our three special blessings, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have encountered!!! BAC is always looking for volunteers to serve on the committee and to share their time, talent and treasure with us. The time commitment is not overwhelming and it is more rewarding than you can imagine. If you’re interested in learning more about volunteering or how to become a member, please call the Saddleback Memorial Foundation at (949) 452-3724.

Thank you for visiting the Baby Alumni Club website and for your future support. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at our events.

Nanci Masada-Okawa, Baby Alumni Club President
