About Me

James Ch’ng, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist at the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

Dr. Ch’ng received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and completed pediatric residency and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

His research interests in the lab have focused on understanding the way that Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a virus sometimes associated with the development of lymphoma, changes the way that infected cells use nutrients and energy in an effort to identify potential new treatment targets.

He has served as a member of the UCLA Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant team and as director of the UCLA Pediatric CAR T Program.
