Established in 1987, the Memorial Heart and Vascular Institute (MHVI) is one of the nation’s most successful and innovative heart centers. Supported by a history of progressive cardiac care at Long Beach Memorial that dates back to 1950, the Institute boasts one of California’s most comprehensive centers for the diagnosis, treatments and rehabilitation of heart disease—all in a state-of-the-art facility.

In 1958, the first cardiac catheterization laboratory was established at Long Beach Memorial (then Seaside Hospital). In 1979, we performed our first angioplasty. Today, we continue to provide groundbreaking and sophisticated cardiovascular and endovascular procedures as part of our multidisciplinary approach.
