Providing care to a terminally ill person takes more than time. It takes patience, generosity, love and commitment. Lending a hand is no easy task. But if you have the heart to make the lives of terminally ill people a little easier call the Long Beach Memorial Hospice program at (562) 933-0910. We provide you with free professional training to become a hospice volunteer. There are many ways to help and support terminally ill patients and their families.
You can provide:
- Transportation
- Moral and spiritual support
- Comfort and relief at a time of bereavement
- Clerical assistance in the office
- Run errands
- Preparing light meals
- Providing companionship
- Reading to the patient
- Writing Letters
- Playing music for patient
Process for becoming a Long Beach Memorial Hospice Volunteers:
- Complete the form at the bottom of this page
- Pass a pre training interview with a staff member
- Take the 18 Hour training program
- Complete background check and health screening process
- Be able to commit for one year
