Help Us Provide that Extra Measure of Care

Give HopeLong Beach Memorial needs the community's support to help fund the Todd Cancer Pavilion at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute. Generations to come will benefit from the new pavilion and the many services and programs that will be made available under one roof. The Todd Cancer Pavilion is a $31 million project. With institutional funds of $20.7 million committed and $6.5 million in philanthropic funds already raised, an additional $3.5 million of community support is needed to make this a reality. By giving to this project, you will touch the lives of many patients and families facing cancer or who will face a diagnosis of cancer in the future.

Vision of Malcolm C. Todd, M.D.
– Founder of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute

This new Pavilion stems from the vision, dedication and philanthropy of Malcolm C. Todd, M.D., founder of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute. Dr. Todd was a surgeon and went on to become the Chief of Surgery and Staff at Long Beach Memorial throughout a career that spanned 54 years. Right before Dr. Todd passed away, he turned his attention to making his vision a reality of a world-class facility on the Long Beach Memorial campus that would provide the most advanced technologies and therapies for cancer care in a convenient, pleasant and calming environment.

Dr. Todd sat down with Jim Normandin, president of the Memorial Medical Center Foundation to develop a philanthropic plan for his vision and made the first financial gift to establish this multidisciplinary cancer care facility. Dr. Todd recognized the importance of the people in the Long Beach community being able to receive cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care at one place. He felt that the Long Beach community deserved to have their own world class facility rather than having to travel long distances or visit multiple locations for that care.

It's inevitable that too many of us in our lifetime will hear the three dreaded words, "You have cancer." The MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute's goal is to ensure that the next four words they hear under the roof at the Todd Cancer Pavilion are… "We can beat this."

Philanthropy was very important to Dr. Todd and to many other donors in the community. Join us in support of the critical ingredient of care called hope:

Naming Opportunities – Various areas within the new pavilion are available for naming including, a rooftop garden, infusion center, breast center, community resource center and others.

Endowments – By creating a lasting legacy you can provide for ongoing cancer programs and research.

Giving and Receiving – By funding a Charitable Trust or Gift Annuity you can receive life income while supporting this important endeavor.
