Dr. Amir Abolhoda is a board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Abolhoda performs all types of open heart procedures including coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), on-pump and beating heart CABG procedures, surgery for aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve diseases, surgical repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections, and surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. He also performs minimally invasive surgery for thoracic aneurysms (endovascular stent-graft) and minimally invasive surgery for correction of atrial fibrillation. He has special interest in extracorporeal assist devices for support of failing heart.
Dr. Abolhoda is an established Thoracic Surgical Oncologist with extensive research and clinical training from the world renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications on treatment of pulmonary metastasis and primary lung cancer. He is currently participating in a number of national intergroup cooperative trials for treatment of lung cancer. Dr. Abolhoda performs a myriad of thoracic surgical procdures, using both open and endoscopic (minimally invasive) techniques. He has expertise in major pulmonary and chest wall resection and reconstruction procedures.
Dr. Abolhoda obatined his Medical Degree from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Montefiore Medical Center (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) in New York City. He spent three years as thoracic surgery fellow at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
