Saddleback Memorial Welcomes Ambassador Gaddie H. Vasquez to Interfaith Council Prayer Breakfast

As part of the Interfaith Council of South Orange County’s Spring Prayer Breakfast hosted by Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, Ambassador Vasquez will share his incredible experiences and lead more than 200 representatives of various religious entities in prayer on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 am.

Ambassador Vasquez’ public service began 28 years ago as a police officer in Orange, California. Ambassador Vasquez is the 8th United States Representative to the United Nations Organizations in Rome. Ambassador Vasquez’ public service includes service at the city, county, state and federal levels of government. From 2002 to 2006, Ambassador Vasquez served as Director of the United States Peace Corps.

Included in his many accomplishments as director are the highest enrollment of volunteers and the initiation of the Peace Corps Global AIDS Program. With his leadership, major reform efforts at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization have resulted in the adoption of sweeping changes to benefit the world’s poor. He has been named a “Champion against World Hunger” by the World Food Programme.

His strong work ethic and the value of serving others were instilled in him as the child of migrant farm workers in Texas. He became the first member of his family to earn a college degree and has since served as a trustee professor at Chapman University.
