at Santa Ana home
Huntington Beach, CA – February 15, 2008 - Over 200 of MemorialCare’s top leaders will participate in a refurbish of a Santa Ana home in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. The home will be renovated to accommodate the family’s middle daughter, who lives with cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. Halls will be widened, ramps will be made and the home will be given a “makeover” with upgrades throughout.
The MemorialCare Academy will lead this project, celebrating its tenth anniversary of graduating 200 of health care’s best and brightest leaders! “We couldn’t think of a more meaningful, better way to celebrate our decade of leadership, to strengthen our legacy and give back to our community in this special way” Tammie McMann Brailsford, Executive Vice President & COO of MemorialCare. Mrs. Brailsford, also Dean of the MemorialCare Academy.
Academy members will donate their time to participate in this refurbish for the Usman family of five, currently living in an apartment in Garden Grove.
Saturday will be the official launch of this development project along with a house blessing performed by Sheryl Faulk, Chaplain at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, part of MemorialCare Medical Centers.
Where: Home is located at 1414 N. Bush Street in Santa Ana. When: Saturday, February 16 at 8:00 a.m.
***Media are welcome and invited to attend***
MemorialCare is a nationally-recognized, not-for-profit health system, with top ratings for quality and safety. There are five hospitals within the MemorialCare Health System serving Los Angeles and Orange counties: Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, Orange Coast Memorial in Fountain Valley, Saddleback Memorial in Laguna Hills and San Clemente. MemorialCare is dedicated to improving the health and well being of individuals, families and our communities through innovation and the pursuit of excellence.
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is dedicated to ending substandard housing and building strong communities in Orange County. Habitat uses non-government donations of funding, materials, professional services and volunteer labor to build simple, decent homes which are sold to qualified low-income families for a 1% down payment, closing costs, and a zero-interest mortgage. Mortgage payments are recycled to build more Habitat homes. Habitat families contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” to the program by building their own home, helping another Habitat family build a home, or working in some other area of the Habitat organization. Habitat for Humanity families and volunteers have built 124 homes in Orange County since 1988, and are currently building four homes in Anaheim.
