After completing my internal medicine residency and pulmonary fellowship at the combined University of California/VAMC Long Beach medical program in 1980, I spent six years at the same institutions pursuing a career in academic medicine. My activities there were centered around patient care, training of medical residents and pulmonary fellows, and clinical research in the field of exercise physiology in patients with chronic lung disease.
I joined the Memorial Medical Group in 1986 where I have since pursued the clinical practice of Pulmonary Diseases (along with my associates, Jeffrey Riker, MD, Glenn Libby, MD, and Cameron Dick, MD) and Sleep Disorders Medicine. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, a new specialty that is developing rapidly. For over 12 years, I have served as the Medical Directory of Long Beach Memorial Medical CenterÂ’s Sleep Disorders Center. This facility is currently the only Sleep Disorders Center certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine in the greater Long Beach Area. My current focus of interest is in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. I take pride in the MemorialCare program and in the "best practices" and "highest-quality care" that represent its core values.
