Dr. Brakin is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism. He began his medical training in Argentina over thirty years ago. During that time he was awarded many honors including the Golden Medal and Suma Cum Laude Diploma for academic excellence. In 1979 after completing his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship training in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at New York's Downstate University Medical School, Dr. Brakin set up practice in California. In addition to his private practice, he is currently a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine and Director of Pediatric Endocrinology at Memorial Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds membership in many local, regional and national medical societies. Dr. Brakin received Outstanding Volunteer Faculty Awards in 1987-1988 and 1999 from the UCI Department of Pediatrics and Physician of the Year Awards in 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998, 2004, and 2006 from the nursing staff at Memorial Miller Children's Hospital. He Specializes in Childhood Diabetes (with special interest in Insulin Pump therapy), Short Stature/Growth Disorders, diseases of the Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal Glands as well as Precocious and Delayed Puberty. |
