Valdemar Ascencio, MD

Dr. Ascencio is a native of Southern California. He received his undergraduate premedical education at UCLA and graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1975. He is on the Board of Directors of the UCLA Medical Alumni Association and is currently serving as the Vice President of the association.
Dr. Ascencio is fully trained and board certified in general surgery, as well as plastic surgery but limits his practice to plastic and reconstructive surgery. His areas of special interest include all aspects of cosmetic surgery of the face and body as well as skin cancer excision and reconstruction. He also specializes in breast reconstruction after mastectomy and has been a member of the Breast Care Center at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center (SMMC) for over 10 years. In addition, Dr. Ascencio has served as the Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at SMMC for the last eight years and has been a member of the SMMC Medical Executive Committee for the last six years. Beginning in 2001, Dr. Ascencio was elected Vice Chief of the Medical Staff and is Chairman of the Quality Council and the Intensive Assessment Committees.
Dr. Ascencio's practice is based on exceptional patient education, the latest surgical techniques and the attention to detail that will help ensure the best possible results for his patients. 2002 marks Dr. Ascencio's 17th year in practice and he has recently moved into a new, state-of-the-art office with a fully equipped and certified operating room.
