Labor & Delivery
BirthCare Center
Your entire birthing experience takes place in a private labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) suite, complete with a bathroom and shower. Each suite is equipped with a state-of-the-art, comfortable birthing bed—which allows you to deliver in the position that makes you most comfortable. These spacious rooms allow a woman and her family and friends (up to three) to celebrate the birth in bright and airy surroundings. Plus, though most of our babies are born healthy, there’s the security of knowing that unparalleled neonatal and pediatric care is just footsteps away. And if you are planning to have a medicated delivery, anesthesiologists are in house 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Postpartum Care
Our postpartum rooms are private or semi-private with large windows. To enhance bonding, we practice mother-baby couplet care where the new mother and infant remain together and are cared for as a unit by a single nurse. Infants in their mother’s presence cry less and have lower blood pressure and more stable temperature, pulse and respirations. Caring for mother and infant together promotes coordination and continuity of care, improves communication between family and caregivers, and enhances maternal learning and confidence.
Antepartum Care
The MemorialCare Center for Women delivers more than 6,000 babies annually, and of these, approximately 10 percent are high-risk births referred from throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties. The Center for Women is a designated Tertiary Perinatal Center and offers a high-risk maternal ambulance transport program.
